The history of the canopy bed dates back to the Nomadic Age, when a tent was used as a home. Tents were built a little differently in those days. They were made by hammering four tall poles deep, into the ground, and covering the center with a sturdy cloth fabric. This fabric was attached to all four poles, and secured to provide an overhead cover. A bed was, then constructed out of straw, or palm leaves, and placed under the tent. This kind of overhead covering is now called a canopy. The tent, as it was called in the Nomadic Age, served multiple purposes. It was used as a bedroom, kitchen, and a general living area.

If you are considering redecorating your bedroom, you may want to look further into purchasing a new leather bed. As the ultimate in luxuriousness, this will accentuate your boudoir with stylishness and sophistication. You can find these beds in all of the same styles and sizes as you would other beds. The price range is going to vary depending on the variety that you choose. The leather’s quality will also play a part in the cost.
A platform leather bed is a very contemporary choice. There is no box spring involved as the mattress itself just sits directly on the platform (which also acts as the frame). This is a sleek and simplistic choice that has been gaining popularity. It is a very modern alternative to the traditional frame styling.

When my friend Mary Ann turned her old New England farmhouse into a sleek modern home, she could not find suitable furniture anywhere near her rural town. It quickly became clear to her that contemporary furniture was not in much demand where she lived. Fortunately, her architect told her about a modern furniture store in Los Angeles that shipped nationwide. That’s where she found exactly what she wanted: a modern sofa and other living room furniture plus Italian bedroom furniture-in Los Angeles.
Contrary to popular belief, modern furniture does not have to be stiff and uncomfortable. There is absolutely no reason to sacrifice comfort for clean lines because they go hand-in-hand in quality contemporary furniture. A modern European sofa bed, for example, combines wood, metal, and fabric in a strong body with easy-to-open mechanism. The couch unfolds like a futon, making a firm sleeping surface with only a touch of the hand. While European sofa beds have not yet caught on in the United States, they do make the ideal versatile and stylish sleep sofa.
